Game 13: Back in KC At Blue Valley

7 October vs. Blue Valley at BV West (2-1)

This one just did not feel good with us giving up the midfield-defensive-breakdown goal at the end of the match. But we pretty much looked similar to the way we did in St. Louis with solid defensive all match, but with little offensive prowess for most of the match.

We scored only on a PK and a nice long deadball. Our flow of play is not creating enough shots or corners.  To attack the baseline, we continually have to bring Jay out of the back. Lasse was out ill tonight, and he has been providing some scoring punch, so maybe that had something to do with it, but we have a lot of veteran guys who know how we like to attack. We expect better.

We did get a nice finish from Kutey off Johnston's driven long deadball, and Bartlett earned us yet another corner off Luke's long throw-in.

And as I said earlier, defensively we were solid until our midfield intensity on defensive went south at the end of the match. But Tyler and Danny were not in the match, two guys who were just lights out defensively at the midfield in St. Louis. They just do not allow any space even to think about getting a shot off.

BWhite rewarded Nick D'Adamo as the Player of the Match. Honestly, Nick has had several very good matches in a row since he has taken over at centerback. And no, he was not in the match when we gave up the goal.

The ref reminded Derek of a seldom-seen call early in the match. Derek set the ball down in the box, adjusted his shoe, then picked the ball up again. No. Not legal. To his credit, Derek made a great save of the indirect kick from the 14—a scary moment. (To our team's discredit, we did not react to the save and play defense after it. BV had an easy finish after the save, but missed it.)

This match puts us 11-2, 5-1 in the EKL.

We have St. James on Thursday.
